Ferroshots, granulated pig iron, is a new product that has been launched by the company from its Kalinganagar plant in March this year, Tata Steel said in a release.
Rajiv Kumar, vice-president (operation) at Tata Steel’s Kalinganagar plant, flagged off the first export consignment to Thailand, said the release.
Tata’s ferroshots find wide application in electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces, cupolas, basic oxygen furnaces and foundries as a replacement of pig iron or scrap.
Its inherent properties lead to better yield, higher productivity and lower energy cost. Besides, the process of manufacturing is safe and environment friendly, said the release.
Tata Steel is setting up a 6-million-tonne integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in two phases. The first phase, 3 million tonnes, is being implemented at an investment of Rs 25,000 crore.
