Tata Telecom Ltd, the communication equipment solutions provider, today decided to rename itself as Avaya Global Connect Ltd.

Avaya International recently acquired 59.1 per cent stake, including Tatas' 50.6 per cent, in Tata Telecom. Mark Leigh, president, Avaya Asia-Pacific, has been elected as the new chairman of Avaya Global Connect Ltd. The name change is subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, the company said in a statement.

"Avaya Global Connect will continue to maintain a 22-25 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) and will deliver superior value proposition for all stakeholders," Mark Leigh said.

"We will strengthen our market position and focus on exploring future growth opportunities," Niru Mehta, vice-chairman, Tata Telecom, added.

Avaya Global Connect will continue to provide end-to-end converged communication solutions with support from its Avaya India Development Centre located in Pune and Avaya Labs in the Asia-Pacific, the company executives said.

US-based communications service provider Avaya International had bought the Tatas' 25.5 per cent stake in Tata Telecom Ltd in April, following an approval by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB). Subsequently, it acquired the Tatas balance stake of 25.1 per cent.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India's regulations required Avaya to make an open offer for another 20 per cent.

Tata Telecom offers a range of services such as converged voice, data and video networks to contact center solutions to unified messaging solutions, and customer services. It has also operations in the contact center and Internet protocol (IP) telephony market.

The company offers these services in partnership with international companies such as Polycom, NICE Systems and LG. TTL's strategic partners include IBM, HP, Servion and Netsol.
