IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said it has deployed its core banking solution at Panzhihua (PZH) Commercial Bank, making it the first Chinese city commercial bank to use TCS BaNCS solution.

TCS, however, did not reveal the size of the deal.

"PZH is the first city commercial bank in China to use the TCS BaNCS solution. The Bank selected TCS BaNCS based on the solution's highly successful implementation track record, especially in the Chinese market, and an in-depth domain expertise," TCS said in a release.

The core banking modules deployed include those on deposits, loans, payments, cards and reporting, it added.

"This deployment establishes a benchmark for the corporate banking segment in China. To date, TCS BaNCS has won 16 core banking deals in Greater China," TCS said.

Earlier this month, TCS was selected by the Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API) to unify its IT systems across retail and wholesale operations.

TCS will deliver API with a SAP ERP platform that integrates with API's legacy systems providing improvements in mission-critical business operations such as merchandising, sales and customer service, logistics and finance.
