Private mobile phone operator Telenor India today launched free life insurance cover for its over 47 million subscribers across its six operating circles.
By spending on regular recharges with small incremental value, Telenor consumers will get the benefit of life Insurance cover, which would be 100 times of the monthly recharge value and up to a maximum of Rs 50,000, Uttar Pradesh East Circle business head K C Narendran told the media here.
Less than 4 percent of the Indian population has any kind of insurance cover. The primary reasons for the low penetration, experts say, are lack of awareness, tedious paper formalities, cost of insurance, lack of last mile distribution network
In UP East Circle, Telenor has about 10 million subscribers with almost 40 percent in the rural pockets.
