Transformers and Electricals Limited Kerala (Telk), a state-level PSU, on Wednesday flagged off its first 270 MVA, 400kV, single phase generator transformer, which is slated to be commissioned for Thermal Power Tech Corporation Limited (TPCIL)’s 660Mw super critical thermal power station in Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
So far only a few 600 Mw super critical thermal units, which is a new concept in India, have been commissioned, a company release said.
The design, engineering, manufacturing and testing were done in-house. The total weight of the transformer is 240 tonne and the main body is required to be transported in special hydraulic trailers in gas-filled conditions so as to reduce its weight during transportation for safe delivery. Telk is supplying the transformer to TPCIL through BGR Energy Systems Limited, Chennai, which is the BOP contractor for this project.
