Trend Micro India, an anti-virus and internet content security software and services company, has announced the launch of InterScan Web Security Appliance, a new gateway-based hardware solution, to provide enterprises protection against spyware and content security threats.

It is for the first time that Trend Micro is introducing a hardware solution to protect enterprises against threats.

Addressing a press conference, Fernande Rynne, global product marketing manager, Trend Micro, said that the appliance would act as the first line of defence against threats like spyware, viruses and other web-based threats.

The solution would stop spyware and grayware at the enterprise perimeter with damage clean-up services (DCS) collaboration for agent-less client cleaning.

DCS will also have features for malware detection and blocking, URL filtering, anti-phishing and for preventing viruses from entering the network.

This appliance could also work with Trend Micro's various standalone and integrated anti-spyware solutions to provide a multi-layered security solution, he added. Earlier, Niraj Kaushik, country manager, Trend Micro - India & Saarc, said spyware and the content security threats were posing severe problems to organisations.

Though it is not perceived as a serious issue now in India, it is likely to become a major area of concern in the near future.
