United Breweries Limited, India’s largest brewer from the UB Group, posted a 39 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 98.6 crore for the first quarter of FY13, as compared to the corresponding previous period. Sales were up 29 per cent to Rs 1,225 crore. Ebitda, at Rs 204 crore, was up 33 per cent.
The company has said the industry had a buoyant quarter and its volume grew by 14 per cent. In several key markets, UB posted double-digit volume growth. “However, sales volume in Tamil Nadu continues to be affected by the unfavourable ordering pattern of TASMAC, the government body,” UBL management said.
