United Spirits, the second largest company in the world by volume in this sector, announced a rise of 2.2 per cent in net profit to Rs 56.85 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, against the same quarter previous year. It has been able to post profit on the back of strong growth registered by its leading brands.
Net sales rose to Rs 1,252.1 crore, by 38 per cent compared with the same period last year. Operating profit was also up 22.3 per cent to Rs 184.10 crore. "A part of the revenue growth is attributable to change in terms of business with contract manufacturing units. Excluding the impact of this change, sales revenue would have shown a growth of 23 per cent on a volume growth of 16 per cent," said a company release.
