Bangalore-based UTL Technologies Limited, a part of UTL Group and IL&FS Skills will join hands in the roll out of the latter's planned skill centres for its ongoing technology training programmes.

The idea is to include a greater number of engineering colleges, institutes and industries concentrated in the IT, telecom networking, IT infrastructure management. In doing so, the knowledge services company is targeting a pan-India presence in the industry-ready skill training programme for university pass-outs in the country.

UTL Tech said the electronics systems design and manufacturing industry has the potential to create 27.8 million jobs in the country over the next six to eight years from the present 4.4 million.

The company on Monday announced its technology training partnership for the national talent search exam being conducted in association with IL&FS Skills and National Skill Development Corporation to identify talent suitable for embedded, VLSI (very large-scale integration) and telecom.

J Srinivas Raju, divisional head, UTL Technologies, said the company was expecting 2,000 engineering graduates from the entire country to appear for the exam, of which 150 individuals will be selected for the training. In Andhra Pradesh, the exam is scheduled to be held from June 22-26 at Hyderabad and Vizag.

He said the training fee for the selected students had been fixed at Rs 40,000 and the programme would run for 10-16 weeks in Bangalore. However, meritorious students in the exam can avail scholarship that covers 50 per cent of the fee. Selected candidates will undergo a three-phased training, covering all aspects of computer-based skills, communication skills and a final technology test.
