V Sumantran appointed as vice chairman of Ashok Leyland

V Sumantran has been appointed as the new vice chairman of Ashok Leyland. He has been on the board of the company since 2008.

Besides his responsibilities as a member of the board, he will now be responsible for the business plans and results of the defense and light commercial vehicle business units of Ashok Leyland.

R Seshasayee, executive vice chairman, will continue to have overall responsibilities for all operations of the company, its subsidiaries and associate companies.
