Vivek Chaand Sehgal, Executive Chairman of the auto components manufacturer Samvardhana Motherson group has been named EY Entrepreneur of the Year for 2016.
Sehgal co-founded the auto components manufacturer Samvardhana Motherson Group in 1975, which registered $7.2 billion worth of revenue in FY2016. The flagship company of the group, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd, rose 38 per cent in the same period, pushing up share prices.
Sehgal has also moved up in the Forbes list of 100 Richest Indians to the 31st place in 2016 from 36th spot in the previous year.

On the other hand, Infosys Chairman and former Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman Nandan Nilekani was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nilekani who was crucial to the rollout of the massive civil identification initiative Aadhar has also been an advisor to the National Payments Corporation of India.
"Even in a challenging and disruptive business environment, these visionary entrepreneurs are continuously creating value, generating jobs and contributing to building a better working world." Rajiv Memani, Chairman, EY India said.
Sehgal is also slated to represent India at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Award, to be held in June.
