The Supreme Court had recently ordered lifting the age restriction on entry of women to the hill abode of Lord Ayyappa.

In a poll run by Business Standard on Twitter, Facebook and our website shows, 47.4% of respondents said that entry of women of all ages is a progressive move, while 52.6% opined that letting women access the temple interferes with tradition. A total of 1321 people voted in the poll.

Here's a break up of the poll on each of the three platforms:

The Supreme Court on Monday said it would decide tomorrow as to when the petitions, seeking review of its Sabarimala verdict allowing entry of women of all age groups into the temple, will be listed for hearing.

Sunday was the fifth day since the temple gates were opened for the monthly puja after the apex court last month lifted the centuries-old ban.

A heavy flow of pilgrims was witnessed at the temple despite intermittent downpour lashing the hills and Pamba.

Though attempts had been made by some young women, including an activist, to enter the temple of the 'Naishtik Brahmachari', the eternally celibate deity, since Wednesday, the devotees backed by priests have stood their ground, saying they would not allow the tradition to be breached.

By all available indications, not a single woman in the age group of 10 and 50 has so far reached the temple which is slated to close on Monday at the end of the monthly puja.
