A year of many hues and a few cries

A year in which India saw the Bharatiya Janata Party winning a majority in the general elections - a first for a single party in 30 years - and the drubbing of the Congress, was also witness to the spectacle of a chief minister sleeping on the road to demand police reforms. A few colourful global CEOs, such as Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, visited India as a way to spread their message. This was also a year of tragedy that saw the deadly Ebola outbreak, a Malaysia Airlines plane and an Indonesia AirAsia aircraft going missing, and another Malaysia Airlines plane being shot down over Ukraine. In West Asia, the Islamic State rampaged through parts of Syria and Iraq, while in Russia there was a sharp fall in the rouble & an impending economic crisis. (2014 IN FRAMES)
