Social activist Pramila Nesargi on Monday called Delhi the capital of rape and lashed out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not taking adequate steps for women safety.
"This is unimaginable. I can't really understand what's happening to our people in India. Delhi is already doing very bad. After Nirbhaya case, we expected some strictness. And Verma's Committee thought it will create fear in the people," she said while commenting on the rape of a four-year old girl.
"Kejriwal came to power with promises of ensuring women safety. What has happened to him? He is saving only his own ministers instead of women," she added.
A four-year-old girl, who was raped in Delhi yesterday, has sustained injuries reminiscent of the December 16, 2012, Nirbhaya gang-rape case.
According to reports, the girl has extensive damages in her intestines and private parts, apart from bruises and bites all over her body. She will need a series of surgeries over six months to completely recover.
