Besides, the ministers, parliamentary secretaries and MLAs of the ruling Congress party too have decided to donate one month's salary to the flood-hit people of Uttarakhand.
Till now 12 pilgrims from the Assam have been rescued in Uttarakhand. Five pilgrims from the state were rescued today. A bureaucrat to the rank of commissioner and secretary is camping in Uttarakhand for the past couple of days and has been helping evacuation of stranded pilgrims and tourists from Assam.
Of the 40 pilgrims who went to Uttarakhand from Assam, 6 pilgrims have already reached Guwahati. The rest of the pilgrims are safe in Badrinath and Gaurikund, said GD Tripathi, secretary of home department. Only one pilgrim from Jorhat, 73-year-old Bhagwani Devi Somani remains untraceable till date.
