The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 26,179,085 – or 92.48 per cent of total caseload – with 231,456 new cured cases being reported on Wednesday.
- With a daily increase of 132,788 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 28,175,044 on Tuesday to 28,307,832 – an increase of 0.5%. Death toll has reached 335,102, with 3,207 fatalities. Now the second-most-affected country by active cases, total cases and recovery, and third by death, India has added 1,150,037 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 13.08% of all active cases globally (one in every 8 active cases), and 9.28% of all deaths (one in every 11 deaths).
- India has so far administered 218,546,667 vaccine doses. That is 772.04 per cent of its total caseload, and 15.70 per cent of its population.
- Among Indian states, the top 5 in terms of number of vaccine shots administered are Maharashtra (27576580), Uttar Pradesh (23533025), Rajasthan (21872566), Gujarat (21253201), and West Bengal (19088932).
- Among states with more than 10 million population, the top 5 in number of vaccine shots per one million population are Delhi (347086), Kerala (340855), Gujarat (332745), Uttarakhand (311086), and J&K (293526).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 7 days.
- The count of active cases across India on Wednesday saw a net reduction of 101,875, compared with 130,572 on Tuesday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Manipur (151), Mizoram (98), and Arunachal (17).
- With 231,456 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 92.48%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.18%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (2.57%), Uttarakhand (1.97%), and Nagaland (1.76%). The rate in as many as 18 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 234,663 — 3,207 deaths and 231,456 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.37%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.6%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 147.4 days, and for deaths at 72.1 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Tamil Nadu (26513), Kerala (19760), Karnataka (14304), Maharashtra (14123), and Andhra Pradesh (11303).
- Among states with more than 100,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Tamil Nadu (84.89%), Assam (86.51%), J&K (87.27%), Karnataka (87.48%), and Puducherry (88.37%).
- India on Tuesday conducted 2,019,773 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 350,057,330. The test positivity rate recorded was 6.6%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases – are Goa (18.92%), Maharashtra (16.33%), Dadra & Nagar Haveli-Daman & Diu (14.22%), Sikkim (12.79%), and Kerala (12.78%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Goa (19.13%), Tamil Nadu (15.84%), Kerala (15.13%), Meghalaya (14.75%), and West Bengal (14.49%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (1035390), J&K (632447), Kerala (558175), Karnataka (441859), and Uttarakhand (428903).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (5761015), Karnataka (2618735), Kerala (2546339), Tamil Nadu (2123029), and Andhra Pradesh (1704388).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 14,123 new cases to take its tally to 5761015. The state has added 207,790 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 14,304 cases to take its tally to 2618735.
- Kerala, the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 19,760 cases to take its tally to 2546339.
- Tamil Nadu has added 26,513 cases to take its tally to 2123029.
- Andhra Pradesh has seen its tally going up by 11,303 to 1704388.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 1,221 cases to take its tally to 1692709.
- Delhi has added 623 cases to take its tally to 1426863.
