A meeting convened by the chairman of Cochin Port Trust (CPT) and commissioner of Cochin Customs with the representatives of the import-export, has decided to review the existing free-period given to Exim trade at the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT).

The decision comes in the wake of the long dwell time (time for the movement of import cargo from the point of arrival of vessel by Customs to grant of out-of-charge) for containers to be cleared from the ICTT. Average dwell time for import of cargo at Cochin currently is 15.36 days.
