Ex-FIFA chief Sepp Blatter's appeal against six-year ban dismissed

Blatter was banned for allegedly making a 'disloyal payment' of $2 million

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday dismissed former FIFA chief Sepp Blatter's appeal against a six-year ban on him from football.

The Associated Press quoted Blatter as saying that he had "lost his appeal against a six-year ban by FIFA".

The former president of world football's governing body was banned for allegedly making a "disloyal payment" of $2 million to the then UEFA president Michel Platini in 2011.

In 2015, Blatter and Platini were banned for eight years by FIFA. However, the term was reduced to six years by an appeals panel in February, 2016.

Later, CAS reduced Platini's ban to four years.

Blatter served as the president of FIFA from  1998 to 2015.
