The IT and ITeS Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITsAP), a registered apex body with more than 300 members representing the software industry in the state, on Sunday gave a call to all the IT employees (around 300,000 of them) in Hyderabad to shun cars and private transportation and observe an ‘All Bus Day’ on Earth Day on April 22.

Under the initiative, employees are advised to use public transportation instead of commuting to office in their own private transportation. This is being done to volunteer towards reduction of carbon footprint by refraining from individual transportation, according to ITsAP.

“Giving back to the communities where our employees live and work is an important part of our industry here. Whether it is planting trees, reviitalising distressed neighbourhoods, or cleaning local lakes and parks, IT employees will again come together to work to strengthen the communities where we do,” ITsAP president V Rajanna said.

Adequate arrangements will be made by the state road transport corporation to ply more buses on regular routes.
