IIT Ropar ranked 9th in India Rankings 2016 in engineering by HRD ministry

The first five top positions led by IIT Madras were lapped up by old IITs

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar has been ranked no 9 among various research & teaching institutes in the country in the India Rankings 2016 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Human Resource Development at a function in New Delhi.

The first five top positions led by IIT Madras were lapped up by old IITs. The India Rankings 2016 is the first-of-its-kind indigenous ranking framework for higher education institutions. 

The first set of the awards were presented by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof S K Das, director, IIT Ropar said: "We are extremely happy to receive this award. We have been ranked among the top 10 Engineering Institutes in the country and being a new IIT, this is a big achievement for us. This is a benchmark we have set for ourselves and we hope to continue our effort in field of engineering research and aim to be among the top 5 research & teaching institutes in the coming few years."
