The rural development ministry is all set to give its programmes a green coating, with some assistance from the United Nations Development Programme and programmes like National Rural Livelihood Mission and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme may soon have a green dimension added to them. Rural development minister Jairam Ramesh said the first step towards greening his ministry’s programmes would be to have a framework for green accounting which would soon be readied by a team led by economist Partha Dasgupta.
