Iranian plane bomb threat: All actions taken as per laid down procedure, says IAF

On Oct 3, intimation was received of a bomb scare on an aircraft bearing Iranian registration, when it was transiting through Indian airspace. IAF fighter aircraft were scrambled, which followed the aircraft at a safe distance, says IAF. It adds, "Aircraft was offered option to land at Jaipur & then, at Chandigarh. But pilot declared his unwillingness to divert to either of them. After a while intimation was received from Tehran to disregard bomb scare. Aircraft continued on its journey towards final destination."
"All actions were taken by IAF as per laid down procedure, jointly with the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The aircraft was under close radar surveillance by the Air Force throughout the Indian airspace," says IAF

Manufacturing PMI dips to 3-month low of 55.1 in September on poor demand

India's factory growth dipped to a three-month low in September due to a moderation in demand and output, despite easing inflationary pressures and strong business confidence, a private survey showed.

The Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index, compiled by S&P Global, fell to 55.1 in September from 56.2 in August, below the 55.8 predicted by economists in a Reuters poll. The pace of growth was still solid, however, and was above the 50-mark separating growth from contraction for a 15th straight month.

"The Indian manufacturing industry remains in good shape, despite considerable global headwinds and recession fears elsewhere," said Pollyanna De Lima, economics associate director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Tesla delivers 343,000 cars in third quarter, says lower than expected

The US electric automaker Tesla on Sunday (local time) announced the delivery and production numbers for the third quarter, stating that it is lower than expected, according to media reports.

According to CNN, a total of 343,000 deliveries and 365,000 vehicles were built by Telsa. It produced 19,935 and delivered 18,672 Model S and X vehicles. It produced 345,988 Model 3 and Y cars and delivered 325,158.

The lower-than-expected numbers resulted from production stoppages to update its factory in Shanghai. Refinitiv analysts expected Tesla to deliver 359,162 cars, CNN reported.

Total production increased from the prior quarter of 2022, when Tesla said it made 258,580 vehicles.

IAF to formally induct indigenously-built Light Combat Helicopter today

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will induct on Monday the first batch of indigenously-developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), in a boost to its combat prowess as the multi-role platform is capable of firing a range of missiles and other weapons.

The LCH, developed by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), has been primarily designed for deployment in high-altitude regions.

It will be inducted into the IAF at a ceremony in Jodhpur in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, officials said on Sunday.

Xiaomi says will protect business interests after assets frozen in India

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp on Sunday said it was "disappointed" with an Indian order that froze $682 million of its assets and would continue to protect its interests. An Indian appellate authority on Friday confirmed an April order by the Enforcement Directorate to seize Rs 555 crore, saying a probe found Xiaomi had made illegal remittances to foreign entities by passing them off as royalty payments.
The Chinese smart devices firm in a statement on Sunday said that over 84% of Rs 555 crore seized by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this year was the royalty payment made to US chipset company Qualcomm Group.

Condemning strongly the "hate crime" at a park named after the Bhagavad Gita in Canada, India urged authorities to take prompt action. "We condemn the hate crime at the Shri Bhagvad Gita Park in Brampton. We urge Canadian authorities and Peel Police to investigate and take prompt action on the perpetrators," the High Commission of India in Ottawa said in a tweet.
