Time-bound financial assistance would be provided to those who suffered loss of life and property in the landslides and floods in various parts of Kerala during the recent heavy rains after assessment of the damage by the various departments, Chief Minister of the State Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday.
The Chief Minister's statement came during the Assembly session. He said emergency financial assistance has already been provided to the dependents of the deceased and missing persons.

China's national capital on Monday classified one area as medium-risk and a residential community as high risk for COVID-19 as total cases in the city rose to 21 while 33 cases were reported in different parts of the country, which officials attributed to virulent Delta variant.
A residential community in Changping district of Beijing was classified as a medium-risk area after reporting two locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of Beijing's centre for disease control and prevention, said on Monday.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri will inaugurate the "Chhath Vrati Special Vaccination Campaign" in Delhi on Tuesday.
The campaign, aimed at vaccinating people against COVID-19 infection ahead of the Chhath celebrations in Delhi, is set to run under the leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari.
Speaking to ANI, Tiwari said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said that the Chhath festival should be celebrated with all the security and precautions. So first of all, people should be vaccinated against COVID-19 infection. In this view, we (BJP) are going to run the "Chhath Vrati Special Vaccination Campaign" in association with Delhiites Foundation."

TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee Monday courted controversy by calling BJP a "virus" and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the "only vaccine" which will "eradicate" it in the next Lok Sabha poll in the country.
Banerjee also slammed the saffron camp calling it the "enemy of the Hindus" for trying to allegedly polarise the upcoming assembly by-poll in West Bengal by using as a poll plank the violence against the Hindu minority in neighbouring Bangladesh.
The de facto number two in the Trinamool Congress also criticised BJP for "thrusting" on the people the by-election in two of the four seats that will go to the poll later this week.

A special court here on Monday said it cannot pass a blanket order barring courts from taking cognizance of an affidavit of an independent witness in the drugs-on-cruise episode, in which he has levelled allegations of extortion attempt by NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede and others on actor Shah Rukh Khan, whose son Aryan is an accused in the case.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Wankhede had earlier in the day filed two separate affidavits before the special court against the allegations of extortion attempt levelled against them.
In the affidavits, the anti-drugs agency and Wankhede sought the court to pass an order saying no court should take cognizance of the affidavit prepared by the independent witness, Prabhakar Sail.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday hit out at National Conference president Farooq Abdullah for seeking talks with Pakistan, saying the government would rather talk to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for making it the most developed in the country.
The home minister, who is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir -- his first since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 -- remotely inaugurated several development projects and laid the foundation stone of some.
"I read in newspapers that Farooq Abdullah has suggested that the government should talk to Pakistan. He has a right to his opinion but we would rather talk to the Kashmiri youth," Shah said while addressing a function at the SKICC here.

Biological E. Limited (BE) is expecting its COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax to be rolled out by the end of November even as the city-based firm is getting ready with 100 million doses for the launch, Mahima Datla, Managing Director, BE said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of signing a financing agreement with US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), she said currently the manufactured doses are being sent to Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL), Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh for regulatory testing.
"Cobevax is in phase 3 trials. We are likely to complete all the studies by end of November which is when we are expecting licence (from the drug regulator). The licence for children should follow one month later. The study in children is underway as well," she said.

Aerospace business of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) inaugurated the newly built special process plant in the Aerospace Special Economic Zone near Bengaluru international airport.
The plant, spread across 25,000 Sq. Ft, houses various special processes required to manufacture precision machined parts for aerospace applications, WIN said in statement on Monday.
The new facility is adjacent to WIN Aerospace's first manufacturing unit that manufactures structural, hydraulic actuator & landing system parts and assemblies.

The Union Health Ministry has sent a high-level multidisciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh where a case of Zika virus disease has been reported.
A 57-year-old man from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh tested positive for Zika virus on October 22.
In a statement, the ministry said the multidisciplinary team comprising an entomologist, public health specialists and gynaecologist drawn from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, National Centre for Disease Control and RML Hospital, New Delhi has been deployed to assist the state health authorities for control and containment measures of Zika virus disease.
