Kalyani Group promoter pays Rs 3 lakh to settle case with Sebi

Baba Kalyani, promoter of Kalyani Group, has settled a case of alleged violation of SAST (Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers) norms in the matter of Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) with markets regulator Sebi on a payment of Rs 3 lakh.
 
Bharat Forge Ltd is a subsidiary of Kalyani Group. The settlement came after Babasaheb Neelkanth Kalyani proposed to settle the pending proceedings through a settlement order "without admitting or denying the findings"

Growth of Quad testimony to vision of leaders of 4 nations: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said the growth of the Quad alliance over the last five years was a testimony to the creativity and the farsightedness of the leaders of the four countries.
 
"Quad is very interesting because the other three are treaty allies. For three treaty allies to work with a non-treaty country is a novel experience for us as it is for them. We all having to change as we go along," Jaishankar said at the Global Technology Summit.

Odisha receives 145 investment proposals worth Rs 7.26 trn so far in biz conclave

The Odisha government on Thursday said it has so far received 145 investment proposals worth over Rs 7.26 trillion in the current edition of the business summit.
 
The Naveen Patnaik government signed 21 MoUs with various companies on the second day of the 'Make In Odisha' Conclave 2022. The JSW Group alone committed an investment of Rs 1 trillion in the state, an official said.

MP govt to form committee for implementation of Uniform Civil Code

The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh announced on Thursday that a committee will be formed for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state.
 
Some other BJP-ruled states including Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh have made similar announcements in the recent months. Time has come for the implementation of the Common (Uniform) Civil Code in India," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at a function here. "Why does a man marry more than once? Why there are two sets of (personal) laws in one country? I am going to form a committee," he said.

Maharashtra has emerged as the leader in ease of doing business evaluation across all states in India, a top bureaucrat in the state government said on Thursday.
 
Dr Harshadeep Kamble, Principal Secretary, Industries, said a report published by UK India Business Council makes it clear that Maharashtra is number one compared to other states and Union Territories in India in terms of doing business.

Sisodia, other accused destroyed excise-scam evidence, alleges BJP's Gaurav Bhatia

The BJP alleged on Thursday that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 35 others who are being probed in connection with the excise policy scam, destroyed 170 mobile phones to cover up evidence.
 
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed that the personal assistant of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal changed four handsets in a short span of time.

Govt invites bids for privatisation of NMDC's Nagarnar Steel Plant

The government on Thursday invited preliminary bids for strategic sale of NMDC's Nagarnar Steel Plant.The last date for submitting bids for NMDC Steel Ltd is January 27, 2023, while the last date for submitting queries is December 29, 2022, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) said.
 
NISP is in the process of being demerged from NMDC into a separate company NMDC Steel Ltd (NSL). Subsequent to demerger, shares of NSL will be listed on BSE, National Stock Exchange of India Limited and Calcutta Stock Exchange.

Mainpur bypoll: EC raps police officers for failing to transfer officials

The Election Commission on Thursday rapped SSPs of Etawah and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh and sought explanations for them for failing to follow its transfer and posting policy ahead of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll.
 
It also directed transfer of six sub-inspectors. The commission's action came a day after the Samajwadi Party (SP) urged it to look into the failure of the state police to randomise police forces ahead of the December 5 bypoll necessitated following the death of party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Haryana govt to introduce vehicle scrappage policy, to offer incentives

The Haryana government on Thursday said it will launch a vehicle scrappage policy which will offer incentives including a rebate on fee on the registration of a new vehicle.
 
The five-year policy will be in sync with the voluntary vehicle fleet modernization programme of the Government of India to encourage the scrapping of vehicles which have attained the critical age that is 10 years in case of diesel vehicles and 15 years in case of petrol vehicles, said an official statement here.

Tata Steel will continue to invest in Odisha, says CEO T V Narendran

Tata Steel which has make investments of over Rs 75,000 crore in Odisha will continue to invest in the state which has 25 per cent of India's total steel making capacity, its MD & CEO T V Narendran said.
 
Narendran made the remarks at the 'Make in Odisha Conclave 2022' in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. "The Tata group of companies, and more specifically Tata Steel, has invested over Rs 75,000 crore in Odisha in the last five years. We will continue to invest to support the growth in Odisha," the official said.

AIIMS-Delhi working on cyber security policy as servers remain down

The AIIMS, Delhi is working on devising a cyber security policy for the hospital and other wings with guidance from investigating agencies, official sources said on Thursday, even as its servers remained down for the ninth day following a ransomware attack.
 
Recommendations have been sought from the investigating agencies, they said. Besides, a chief information security officer (CISO) is being appointed on an ad hoc basis for emergency cyber security measures to be taken at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here to restart the eHospital services and prevent such incidents in the future.

NSE phone tapping case: Delhi court to hear bail pleas of Ramakrishna, Pandey

A Delhi court will hear on December 7 the bail applications of former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna and ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey in a corruption case related to alleged illegal phone tapping and snooping on stock exchange employees.
 
Special Judge Sunena Sharma adjourned the matter after the counsel appearing for the two accused prayed for adjournment on the ground that their petition challenging the rejection of their bail application in a connected money laundering case, being probed by the ED, is pending before the Delhi High Court which has reserved its orders.

PM Modi hurls 'four quintals of abuses' at Congress everyday, says Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that he hurls "four quintals of gaalis" (abuses) at the grand old party everyday and targets its leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
 
Kharge was addressing a rally at Waghodia town in Vadodara district of Gujarat in support of Congress candidate Satyajitsinh Gaekwad. While the first phase of the Assembly election was conducted on Thursday, the second phase will be held on December 5.
