The Karnataka cabinet on Friday gave its approval to the 'Karnataka Employment Policy 2022-25', mandating industries either expanding or setting up new units in the state, to increase the number of jobs they provide.
The policy cleared by the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is aimed at generating more employment in the state, especially to locals, with job opportunities dwindling, PTI reported.

The country's foreign exchange reserves declined by $7.541 billion to $572.712 billion in the week ended July 15 as the Reserve Bank continued to intervene in the market to curb the fall of the rupee.
In the previous week ended July 8, the reserves shrunk by $8.062 billion to $580.252 billion, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed on Friday.

The Delhi Congress on Friday welcomed Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena's decision to recommend a CBI probe into the Delhi government's Excise Policy, 2021-22, as it accused the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation of being "knee-deep in corruption".

The Indian players participating in the upcoming Commonwealth Games and the country are not likely to suffer on account of the non-release of funds to the National Sports Federations (NSF) which are non-compliant with the National Sports Code, the Delhi High Court has said while dealing with a matter relating to non-compliance of law by several NSFs.
The court was informed by the Centre's counsel that the travel expenses and accommodation of the Indian teams participating in CWG, which is going to start in Birmingham on July 28, will be funded by the government under its supervision and management.

Global relocation company PM Relocations (PMR) said it aims to double its revenue to Rs 200 crore in the current financial year with rising demand for house shifting after Covid.
"The company has moved more than 5,000 households within India, 8,000 families abroad and more than 1,00,000 laptops and desktops to ensure business continuity. As a result, it has achieved the revenue target of Rs 100 crore in FY 2021-2022," the company said in a statement.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has a pendency of over 2.35 lakh cases, of which the government is apparently the defendant in 2.04 lakh cases.
Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju told Rajya Sabha in a written reply on Thursday that a total of 2,35,617 cases were pending in the AP High Court as on July 15, 2022. Of them, 42,374 were pending for more than a decade, Rijiju said in reply to a question raised by YSR Congress MP Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose.

The Delhi High Court has taken note of several instances of registration of domain names under the marks of well-known businesses for carrying out online fraud and sought a status report from the police here concerning its investigation in such cases.
Justice Prathiba M Singh noted that the websites under these domain names are being used for hosting fraudulent websites under the garb of offering jobs, dealerships, franchisees, lucky draws, etc and several cases concerning this malpractice were pending before different benches of the high court.

As many as 1,456 seats for the NEET-PG 2021 remained vacant despite five rounds of counselling including a special round, the government told Lok Sabha Friday.
The vacant seats in respect of deemed universities were reverted to respective universities, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said in a written reply.

Opposition members on Friday staged a walk out from a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence alleging they were not allowed to discuss the Agnipath scheme, sources said.
They said members of Congress and BSP urged committee chairman Jual Oram to allow a discussion on the Agnipath scheme, arguing it has huge implications and required parliamentary scrutiny, but were denied from doing so.
They added that Congress MPs K C Venugopal and Uttam Kumar Reddy, besides BSP's Danish Ali, who are members of the panel, argued with the chairman that the Agnipath scheme has already been discussed in the Consultative Committee on Defence and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the three service chiefs have made a presentation before it.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd on Friday reported a 33 per cent increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 125.95 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, on the back of higher sales.
The company, which had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 94.76 crore in the year-ago period, said it has raised Rs 600 crore through the allotment of non-convertible debentures on private placement basis in two series.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday accused the Bhupesh Baghel dispensation in Chhattisgarh of failing to address issues faced by government employees and not keeping promises made to them ahead of the 2018 Assembly polls.

If an airline feels a disabled passenger's health is likely to deteriorate during a flight, it must consult a doctor at the airport and take an "appropriate decision" on whether boarding should be denied to the flyer or not, aviation regulator DGCA said on Friday.
If the airline then decides to deny boarding to the disabled passenger, it will have to immediately inform the passenger in writing and mention the reasons in that note, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement.
The regulator had proposed the aforementioned regulations on June 3, six days after it had imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on IndiGo for denying boarding to a disabled boy at Ranchi airport on May 7.

Japan warned of escalating national security threats stemming from Russia's war on Ukraine and China's tensions with Taiwan in an annual defence paper issued Friday, as Japan tries to bolster its military capability and spending.
The annual defence white paper, approved by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's Cabinet on Friday, highlights the need for Japan's military buildup to address security concerns and seeks to gain public support for a stronger military and increased budget, which Kishida's governing party aims to double in coming years.
The report comes months ahead of a revision to Japan's national security strategy that is expected to include a pre-emptive strike capability, which critics say would go beyond the limitations of Japan's pacifist constitution.

The government is committed to reduce emissions from the shipping sector and all the major ports will be made fully self-sustainable on electricity by 2030, Parliament was informed on Friday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said that to develop global standard ports in India, Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 has identified initiatives, such as developing world-class Mega Ports, transhipment hubs and infrastructure modernisation of ports.
According to the minister, as a part of Sagarmala Programme, more than 800 projects at an estimated cost of around Rs 5.5 lakh crore have been identified for implementation during 2015 to 2035 across all coastal states.

he All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, on Thursday announced a raise in the charges of its private ward rooms.
The move comes following the recent decision by the GST Council to levy a 5 per cent tax on hospital room rent exceeding Rs 5,000 per day. The revised charge will be effective from July 18 as per government notification.
As per the notification issued by AIIMS, the charges for A class (deluxe room) at AIIMS will now be Rs 6300 per day. Patients have to pay 10 days advance deposit of Rs 66,000, including 5 per cent GST and diet charges.
