The 350th Foundation Day of Sri Anandpur Sahib would be commemorated as a mega event during June 17-19, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said on Wednesday.
Presiding over a high-level meeting to review the arrangements of this function, Badal also decided to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the members of the entire Union Cabinet and all chief ministers. Besides, many other prominent dignitaries from different walks of the life would be invited to attend the function.
Badal asked Anajli Bhawra, principal secretary (cultural affairs and tourism) to extend the invitation to the eminent religious personalities such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Sri Sankracharya of Dwaraka Peeth, besides similar personalities from Christianity and Islam to propagate the message of 'unity in diversity', which is in line with the underlying the philosophy of holy city of Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The chief minister said he would seek a special train from Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, Takht Sri Dam Dama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo) Bathinda, Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar and Delhi to Sri Anandpur Sahib for the benefit of devotees wishing to participate in the celebrations.
A documentary film to showcase the legacy of the sacred city is also on the cards.
