 "Centre promises to not be hasty on Kasturirangan Report")
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has promised the Karnataka unit of the BJP that the Centre would not take any hasty decision on the controversial Kasturirangan report.
Just a day before Javadekar was scheduled to meet officials to deliberate on the Kasturirangan report, the state BJP apprised the minister of the consequences of the recommendations of the Kasturirangan panel on the Western Ghats in Karnataka, including Kodagu.
The minister, according to a release by local BJP unit spokesperson M A Mohan today, promised the state BJP that a decision on the report would be taken after consulting BJP MPs of the area, Pratap Simha, Nalinkumar Kateel, Ananthkumar and Shoba Karandlaje.
Mysore MP Pratap Simha said, all the MPs from the area would meet the minister during the Lok Sabha session and impress upon Javadekar on the aspirations of the people of Kodagu and the impact of the recommendations of the committee, in the background of the assurance given by the Union Minister that no hasty decision would be taken on its recommendations. Hence, people of the area need not have any concern, Mohan said.
