Punjab Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon on Monday taunted Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's protest against drug menace in the state, saying the latter's visit always creates a conflict within the party.

"Whenever he visits the state, an internal conflict can be seen rising within the Congress," Dhillon said.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader told ANI that Gandhi's visit creates friction within the Congress as the leaders of the grand old party start fighting with each other.

"We are not worried about them," he added.

The Congress vice-president will later in the day lead a protest in Punjab's Jalandhar city against the drug menace in the state.

Gandhi, who will be accompanied by members of the Congress' Punjab unit, is also expected to highlight the alleged deterioration in the law and order situation in the state.

"Will join the mass protest in Jalandhar on Monday, 13th June, to highlight rampant drug abuse and collapse of law & order in Punjab," Gandhi's office tweeted earlier on June 10.

The Congress vice-president's protest comes at a time when there is an ongoing controversy over certification of Bollywood film 'Udta Punjab', based on the menace of drugs in the state.
