Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, a noted businessman and the promoter of a large media house that publishes its flagship Telugu newspaper Eenadu, is planning to build a spiritual city with the replicas of 108 famous temples of the country near the Ramoji Film City on the city outskirts.

Besides the temples, the spiritual city will also have a theme park and facilities like hotels, marriage and function halls, health centers, film theaters that screen holy movies, and places to conduct religious rituals among other things. Ramoji Rao today met with Telangana chief minister K Chandra Shekhara Rao and presented a book containing the features of the proposed Om City, according to the chief minister's office.

By visiting this spiritual city the pilgrims will have an opportunity to see and offer prayers at all the holy places and temples at one location without having to go around the country to visit each holy place, Ramoji Rao told the chief minister while explaining the concept of his project, according to the press release.

Chief minister Chandra Shekhara Rao said that the proposed spiritual city is expected to attract 2 lakh tourists every day and this would provide large scale employment for the local people. The chief minter assured full support for the construction of the the facility.
