Ravi Shastri in Indian Premier League scandal probe team

Former CBI chief RK Raghavan and former chief justice of Calcutta High Court JN Patel are also part of the panel

Under fire from the Supreme Court, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at an emergency meet on Sunday here to form a three-member probe panel to investigate the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting and spot fixing scandal. Former head of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), R K Raghavan, former chief justice of Calcutta High Court, J N Patel, and former cricketer Ravi Shastri will form the panel. Shastri is also a member of the IPL governing council.

The BCCI will propose these names to former BCCI president, Shashank Manohar, among others who attended the meet Sunday’s meeting comes only two days before the next hearing of the case in the apex court scheduled for Tuesday. The court last week had rejected N Srinivasan’s plea to allow him to return as the chief of the BCCI.

There was a lot of drama at the BCCI's emergent working committee meeting at the Mumbai headquarters as an altercation between secretary Sanjay Patel and former president Shashank Manohar led to the former walking out of the meeting. The Baroda man was however persuaded by some of the other senior officials to come back and rejoin the proceedings.
