Security agencies hold mock drill near Indo-Pak border

A joint mock drill by police and army was conducted near the Indo-Pak border in the Samba district to check the operational preparedness and coordination between various security agencies.

"In order to check the operational preparedness of the manpower, mobility of troops, proper liaison and communication between different agencies and coordination on ground, a joint mock drill was conducted by District Police Samba and Army in Samba, against any possible terrorist attack keeping in view the present security scenario," a police spokesperson said.

The Special Operation Group (SOG) of police, Final Assault Group (FAG) and manpower of Police Station Ghagwal and personnel from the Army and other security forces deployed in the area participated in the drill.

"The drill was aimed to keep the forces well aware about their role during any militant strike," he said, adding that army helicopters were also the part of the drill which lasted for over nine hours.

All the preventive measures necessitated to be taken during any terrorist strike as well as the reaction time of the Police, Army and other Security forces was observed during the drill.

"Proper briefing about their role and action in dealing with any terrorist attack was imparted to the manpower deployed for the purpose personally by Brigade Commander, 168-Infantry Brigade in presence of GOC 29 Division and SSP Samba," he said.

All the sister agencies working in the area as well as general public were informed well in advance about the mock drill to avoid any panic situation.

Similar mock drills were also conducted at Sarore Adda as well as near Rameshwar Temple Tarore in Sub-Division Bari Brahamana to ensure effective preparedness among the forces to deal with any terrorist strike.
