Six persons were injured in a stampede after an initially scheduled Army recruitment rally was cancelled at the last moment in Gwalior, located 450 km north of Bhopal, police sources said.
Police said the recruitment rally was cancelled by the Armed forces after candidates alleged mismanagement.
"The last minute cancellation of the rally enraged the aspirants, who went on rampage," a senior police officer said.
"Some unidentified candidates torched a few vehicles, damaged few others and also destroyed personal properties in the area. Police are on lookout for the miscreants while those who sustained injuries in the incident have been admitted to a local hospital," the officer said.
Police resorted to lathi charge and also lobbed tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.
