SpiceJet on Wednesday, organized a Holi dance by its crew for its passengers on its 171 Delhi-Goa flight but did it while the aircraft was still on ground. The emphasis on the word "on ground" in the company statement was clear that it has learnt a lesson from the incident two years back.

The directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) in 2014 issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet, asking why its licence should not be suspended, after a video of the cabin crew on a Goa-Bangalore flight dancing in the aisles went viral on social media.

A preliminary probe ordered by the regulator revealed that similar 'shows' took place on other flights, including Delhi-Goa-Delhi; Jaipur-Mumbai-Delhi; Mumbai-Bangalore-Kolkata and Bangalore-Pune-Ahmedabad. Passengers were seen in the video, cheering and clapping along.

Beside the Holi dance, the airline will welcome its passengers with a chandan tilak, as a mark of auspiciousness. The seats would be decked with colourful scarves. Holi caps will be given away to all men on board thereby enhancing the in-flight ambience to match the festive mood.

The airline will also be distributing waterless Holi stickers on 23rd and 24th of this month.

Recently, DGCA sent a showcause notice to Jet Airways for allowing a singer to use the public announcement system for singing. and asked it to suspend cabin crews who were on duty.
