The CBI court has issued notice directing all 44 accused including two MPs, several officers of the animal husbandry department including some IAS officers to appear personally before the court on the date of verdict. The accused were also asked to file their written arguments, if so desire by July 1.The case number RC20A/96 for which the verdict will be delivered on July 15, includes one of the 61 cases filed in the Rs 900-crore fodder scam.
The case against Lalu Prasad, Jagannnath Mishra and others is related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.70 crore from Chaibasa treasury i 1994-95, when Lalu Prasad was the chief minister of unified Bihar.
Statements from all accused were taken by the court and all pleaded innocent, saying they were falsely implicated by the investigating agency.
As many as 330 witnesses had been examined.
