Highlighting the threat faced by all nations due to terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked all anti-terror forces to join hands and fight against it.

“When India was shouting out to the world about terrorism, we were told that it's our law and order problem. Now the world understands what terrorism is. 9/11 shocked the world,” the Prime Minister said while addressing the Indian diaspora at Brussels on Wednesday.  “We must de-link terrorism from religion,” he added.

The Prime Minister also stoked issues ranging from one rank one pension (OROP) to financial inclusion during his speech.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights from his address at Brussels.

Terrorism

Terrorism is a challenge to humanity. The entire world must unite to combat it.

Terrorism must be delinked from religion. No religion teaches it.

India has been troubled by terrorism for the last 40 years. More than the soldiers martyred in battlefield, lives have been lost to terrorism.

Indian Economy

At a time when the world economy is not doing so well, it is generally agreed that India is a ray of hope

Subsidy

Our campaign on gas subsidy led to 9 million people surrendering their subsidy, helping millions of poor families to get gas connections

Financial Inclusion

Our Jan Dhan Yojana has led to 210 million new accounts, bringing millions into the banking sector

Vote Bank

We don't do vote bank politics. We care for even those who don't vote (for us)

Rural Electrification

18,000 villages in India are still without electricity. We will bring them electricity within 1000 days. 7,000 have already been electrified

One Rank One Pension

For years OROP was promised but even when an allotment was made, it was a token amount. We changed this

Renewable Energy

Our target of 175 GW of renewable energy is achievable. We are making tremendous advances in solar energy
