One hundred and sixteen infrastructure projects in the Central sector were completed at a final cost of over Rs 42,370 crore between May 2004 to April 2005 against only 59 projects between May 2003 and April 2004, according a report of the ministry of statistics and programme implementation.
 
Of the projects completed, the maximum number (31) was in the road transport and highways sector, followed by 27 in railways and 13 in the ports sector.
 
Twelve projects in the coal sector and 11 in the power sector were completed during this period.
 
In the petroleum sector, 5 projects were completed in the 12-month period taken into consideration while in the telecom sector, it was four, the ministry data stated.
 
Three projects each in urban development and civil aviation, two each in mines and steel and one each in atomic energy, fertilizers and information and broadcasting sectors were completed in this period.
 
Two hundred and twelve projects with the latest approved cost of Rs 58,761.56 crore were added during this period, whereas in the previous 12-month period, 118 projects were added, with the latest approved cost being Rs 38,551.20 crore, said an official Press release.
