Mounting pressure on the Centre to take immediate steps for formation of Telangana, 15 MLAs from the region, including those from the ruling Congress, submitted their resignations to the Speaker on Sunday. The move follows the renewed call of the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee to legislators from the region to submit their resignations en masse, rejecting the Terms of Reference of the Sri Krishna Committee, appointed by the Centre to look into the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh.
