Two persons were arrested by the Jalandhar district police on Wednesday for allegedly supplying the material of the state government’s famous ‘Atta-Dal Scheme’ in the open market. Acting on a tip-off that a truck loaded with flour and pulses, bound to be distributed among the weaker sections of society under the government’s scheme, would pass through a particular road, a special ‘naka’ was laid and the particular truck was intercepted, police sources said.
Search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 220 bags of flour and pulses, with marking of Civil Supplies Department, sources said, adding that occupants of the vehicle identified as Pawan Kumar, arhtiyas (commission agent) and driver of the vehicle Balbir Singhwere immediately arrested.
