At least twenty persons were injured at the Paradip plant of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO) as a silo shed for storage of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) collapsed this morning.
Among the twenty injured, four were critically hurt and have been sent to SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack. Others were treated at local hospitals. However, no person died in the mishap, said M R Patel, a senior official of the IFFCO Paradip unit while adding that the company will bear all the medical expenses of the injured.
Meanwhile, Central minister of state for fertilizer Shrikant Jena said, he has ordered for the detail report about the accident and will take necessary action after that.
“I hope IFFCO and others will learn from the mistake and will take necessary steps to avoid such accidents in future and will ensure all safety measures,” he said.
IFFCO factory workers have blamed the company management for the accident.
