The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of bail of Sanjay Chandra, managing director, Unitech, and an accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case, alleging he had tried to "sabotage the trial".

The agency alleged Chandra misused the relief given to him and has violated the terms and conditions of bail and sought to recall the court's November 23, 2011 order by which he was granted relief. The CBI alleged the conduct of Chandra was questionable during the period of bail as he had approached prosecutor A K Singh and was found discussing about crucial witnesses.

The recorded conversation between Chandra and Singh was leaked to the media.

"It is clear from the conduct of the accused there has been a clear attempt to sabotage the conduct of this trial and to impact its outcome," the CBI said.

"It is apparent that the freedom granted to the accused by means of enlargement from custody has been misused by him and that allowing him to continue unabated will be detrimental to the conduct of this trial and to the greater public interest," CBI said in its application.
