Government agencies and private millers have procured 47.17 lakh tonne of wheat in Punjab in the ongoing crop year so far, as against 90.32 lakh tonne last year.
Out of total procurement, state agencies procured 47.10 lakh tonne of wheat, while private traders procured 6,755 tonne.
The FCI has been able to procure 6.24 lakh tonne of wheat, which accounts for 13.2% of the total procurement in the state.
A spokesman added that Patiala, with 7.37 lakh tonne of procurement, was leading in procurement operations, whereas Sangrur district was at second place with 6.91 lakh tonne of procurement and Ferozepur District, with 4.47 lakh tonne of procurement, was ranked at third position.
