Government agencies and private millers procured more than 5,622,000 tonnes of wheat till last evening (compared to 9,160,000 tonnes procured last year). Out of the total procurement at all the centres in Punjab, government agencies procured 5,614,000 tonnes of wheat (99.09 per cent), while private traders procured 7,855 tonnes (0.1 per cent).
Central government agency Food Corporation of India (FCI) has been able to procure 753,000 tonnes of wheat, which is 13.4 per cent of the total procurement of wheat in the state.
