Andhra Pradesh gives approvals to over 1,200 industries

Through the Single Desk system the state was able to garner a combined investment of at least Rs 9,500 cr

Andhra Pradesh government today said it has cleared 1,206 industries with a combined investment of Rs 9,500 crore through the Single Desk system launched four months ago.

The state government had introduced Single Desk system for approvals to establish new industries and projects at a single point of contact wherein the investors are given all the clearances on-line within a prescribed time period. Under this new system the government departments were also mandated to receive applications for approvals through an on-line portal.

According to the industries department, about 72 large and mega projects and 44 medium projects have received the necessary approvals through the Single Desk system so far.

Some of the major names include Chettinad Cement Corporation Limited, Greenply Industries Limited, Mylan Laboratories Limited among others.
