Balvender Kumar assumes charge as Mines Secretary

He took over charge from Anup K Pujari who is now secretary in the ministry of micro small and medium enterprises

Uttar Pradesh cadre officer Balvender Kumar today joined as secretary, the ministry of mines. Before joining the ministry, Balvender Kumar was holding the charge of vice-chairman, Delhi Development Authority under the Ministry of Urban Development.

He took over the charge from Anup K Pujari who is now secretary in the ministry of micro small and medium enterprises. Born in 1957, Kumar is M.Phil in botany. Kumar was earlier posted as additional secretary in Department of Agriculture & Cooperation and Development Commissioner (Handlooms) in M/o Textiles. He was director in the Department of Fertilizers from May 1999 to March 2001 and then joint secretary till July 2004 in the ministry of chemicals and fertilizers.

He has also worked as chairman and chief executive officer of Noida Authority, vice-chairman Lucknow Development Authority, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation and District Magistrate in Moradabad and Rampur districts. He has worked as Principal Secretary in departments of social welfare, women and child development, trade & taxes, revenue, science & technology and non-conventional energy sources department in Uttar Pradesh.
