Keeping her promise to field maximum upper-caste candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today included 20 Brahmins, as against 17 Dalits, in the party’s list of candidates for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Addressing reporters here today after releasing the list of candidates, Mayawati reiterated that the party would contest the coming elections alone. The party has released a poll manifesto for the state exclusively.
Meanwhile, the BSP supremo said she would launch her nationwide campaign from Kerala tomorrow.
“We have chosen Kerala to start our poll campaign since the party wants to focus more on areas where the BSP is still weak,” she underlined.
