Appearing satisfied with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assurance on NCTC issue, the BSP today voted in favour of the government in the Rajya Sabha on the President's address and said its aim was not to "destabilise" the UPA.

"We are for federal structure...But once Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave an assurance in the House that first there will be a consultation on NCTC and then some decision would be taken, then we are not here to destabilise the government by voting against it," BSP General Secretary Satish Chandra Misra told reporters here.

He said after the Prime Minister's assurance, there was "no logic" in voting against the government.

Referring to the walkout staged by BSP members in the Lok Sabha yesterday during voting on amendments moved by the opposition on Motion of Thanks to the President's Address, he said after party MPs read the Prime Minister's statement in the evening, and after he again gave assurance in the House, they voted in support of the government today in the Upper House.
