The proposed electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) in Chhattisgarh has got the final approval from the Centre.

The EMC would come up near Tutla village in the upcoming new capital city Naya Raipur and would be spread over 28.32 hectares of land. The site would ensure sufficient water supply from the Mahanadi river and also have also sufficient power connection to cater the needs of operation in the cluster.

The proposed EMC is aimed at providing one stop integrated facilities with manufacturing support, welfare and common infrastructure facilities to the prospective electronics manufacturing industries.

The Chhattisgarh government had decided to promote the non-core sector in the state and the approval to set up EMC was a step forward in the move. The Centre would also provide necessary grant for the project.

The electronic products that would be manufactured in the EMC include television sets, CCTC cameras, set-up boxes, computer accessories, LED bulbs and other electronic items.

“In all, 61 units would be set up in the EMC that would generate jobs for about 4000 people,” state’s industry secretary Subodh Kumar Singh said. The state-run Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation would be the nodal agency to implement the project that would be completed over a period of three years, he added.

The state government had already inked agreements with 11 electronic companies that would be setting up units in the EMC. The companies would be investing about Rs 1,000 crore in the project.
