The parliamentary standing committee on energy said that the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) should be accountable to Parliament and its role should be reviewed particularly in view of some of its controversial judgements.
The sub-committee on power said that the state electricity regulatory commissions (SERC), being established in states, for formulating standards relating to quality, continuity and reliability of service for the electricity industry have failed in their efforts.
