Chhattisgarh government will constitute a steering committee with representatives from the state government and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) to examine fresh investment proposals.
The ASSOCHAM had aimed to sign memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth about Rs 7000 crore with the Chhattisgarh government at the summit ‘Advantage Chhattisgarh: the land of Opportunities’ that was held on Monday. Chief Minister Raman Singh inaugurated the day-long summit.
The chamber officials Sunday announced that different companies would sign MoUs with the state government at the summit today. The officials had claimed that about Rs 7000 crore would be invested in Chhattisgarh through the proposals. The names of the companies were however not announced as the officials said it would be revealed only on Monday.
A senior state government official said that the decision to postpone the signing of MoUs was taken at the last moment as the government was not keen to ink agreements for more investment proposals. Contrary to the announcement, no MoU was signed at the summit today.
