Compulsory rural service for doctors

Hereafter, all the students pursuing medical and dental courses in varous colleges in the state have to compulsorily serve in the rural areas for a period of one year to obtain their degree certificates. A decision to this effect was taken by the state Cabinet which met here on Friday. Information and public relations minister, J Geeta Reddy, said serving in rural areas by medical and dental students had already been made mandatory in many states.
